MySSSC accessibility statement.

This accessibility statement applies to mysssc.uk.com.

This website is run by Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to do the following.

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 200% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand. My Computer My Way has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability and the AT Hive can help you find assistive technologies that work for you.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

SSSC is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • Some pages do not have appropriate heading structure. In the Equalities form checkbox options do not read out the fieldset instructions. In the Annual Declaration journey there are radio buttons that do not read out their associated questions. This fails WCAG 1.3.1 Info and Relationships (A).
  • There are still some minor colour contrast issues with the Back to SSSC website link on all pages, some table headers at higher magnification levels, and some content within the Annual Declaration journey. This fails WCAG 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) (AA).
  • Create an account and following link on the sign in page receive focus indication that is hard to see against the background colour. This fails WCAG 1.4.11 Non-text Contrast (AA).
  • Chat content does not respond to user-triggered text spacing adjustments. This fails WCAG 1.4.12 Text Spacing (AA).
  • There are a small number of links across the platform which do not have descriptive link text. This fails WCAG 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context) (A).
  • In the chat widget there is an invisible tab move for the chat message area of the widget frame. This sits between the expand control, and the tab move for the “here” link within the chat. This fails WCAG 2.4.7 Focus Visible (AA).
  • iframes in the End Employment journey do not have title attributes. In the FTP referral journey the guidance accordion announces expanded when it is collapsed. This fails WCAG 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value (A).

Document issues (Certificates)

  • Certificates do not have a human readable title instead the title is a contracted URL text. This fails WCAG 2.4.2 Page Titled (A).
  • The document does not contain any accessibility tags. Missing tags causes the following problems.
    • No programmatic structure through headings. 1.3.1 Info and Relationships (A).
    • Missing alt text on images. 1.1.1 Non-text Content (A).
    • Text not readable to screen readers and there are reading order breaks where lines of text are split into separate sections in the middle of words. 1.3.1 Info and Relationships (A) and 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value (A).

At this time, we have made no claims of disproportionate burden.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

Some of our PDFs and Word documents are essential to providing our services. For example, we have PDFs with information on how users can access our services, and forms published as Word documents. We are currently working on fixing these essential documents or replacing them with accessible html web pages. This work will be completed by…

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

3rd party content

Some of our services include third party content which we have no control over. The accessibility regulations do not require us to manage these kinds of content, but if you have a problem with any of the content hosted on this website, please contact us using the methods above and we will try to help.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We are committed to making further improvements to mysssc.uk.com and plan to undertake more work during 2027 to further meet the accessibility guidelines.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 20 August 2026. It was last reviewed on 20 August 2026.

This website was last tested on 10 August 2026 against the WCAG 2.2 standard. The test was carried out by All Able Ltd.

A representative sample of pages of the website were tested along with a sample of the documents from each area of the website. Testing was composed of a mixture of manual, semi-automated and assistive technology testing.
